Traditional
Balinese Cat Breeders
There are not many Balinese breeders in the world. Each breeder tends to specialize in a
particular type. Some have the round and stocky Traditional Balinese, while others have 'Classic Balinese' which is a bit more refined, with a more wedge-shaped
head, though still retaining a heavier body type than the modern Balinese has a very refined body
and very wedge-shaped or pointed head with very large ears. Prospective buyers need to decide
what sort of look they prefer and take to breeders to determine what type they are breeding as
well as their health and personalities.
Don't be surprised if the breeder questions you about the sort of environment you will provide
the kitten. Most good breeders are very careful in selecting homes for their kittens. You will
probably be asked to sign an agreement stating that the cat will be spayed or neutered, that it will
NOT be declawed and that it will be kept exclusively indoors.
Sometimes cats are advertised as Traditional Balinese but are not registered. These kittens
may or may not be pure. If this matters to you, question the breeder regarding the source of their
breeding stock, or simply move on to a breeder with clearly pedigreed cats.
